Burty

Terms of use

Last updated 7 November 2026

These terms cover using Burty to find, book, host and list things to do. By creating an account or buying a ticket you agree to them.

1. Who we are

Burty is a platform that lists events, venues and activities and sells tickets on behalf of organisers. Burty is not the organiser of events or activities listed by others, unless the listing says so.

2. Your account

  • Use your real name and keep your sign-in email or phone secure. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
  • You must be at least 16 to use Burty, and 18 or older for events marked 18+.
  • You can delete your account at any time from your account page.

3. Tickets and fees

  • Prices are set by organisers. Burty adds a service fee of 5% + ₦100 per paid ticket (at most ₦5,000 a ticket), shown before you pay. Free tickets have no fee.
  • Payments are processed by Paystack. Your ticket is the QR code in My tickets and in your confirmation email. Each code admits one person, once.
  • Refunds: if an event is cancelled, you get the ticket price back. Otherwise refunds follow the organiser's policy on the listing. Burty's service fee is refunded only when the event is cancelled.
  • Don't resell tickets above face value or copy QR codes. A copied code stops working after its first scan.

4. Hosting and listing

  • If you list an event, activity or venue, you confirm the details and photos are accurate and that you have the right to use them.
  • You're responsible for running what you list safely and lawfully, including permits, age checks and the venue's rules.
  • Organisers receive the ticket price (Burty keeps the service fee) by bank transfer after the event, once their payout details are confirmed. Burty may hold a payout while it looks into complaints, chargebacks or a cancelled event.
  • When you pick a Burty venue as your location, the venue can approve or decline being linked to your listing.
  • A business can claim its venue; Burty checks claims before marking a venue Verified.

5. Paid Burty features

  • Burty Private Plus (bigger guest lists), Venue Pro (paid by the month) and Boost (Sponsored placement) are paid once through Paystack and don't renew automatically.
  • Once active they aren't refundable, unless Burty can't provide them. Boosted venues are always labelled Sponsored; Buzzing labels and ratings can't be bought.
  • If an event is cancelled after its organiser was paid, the refunded ticket money is taken from the organiser's next payouts.

6. Activities and meeting people

  • Activities are hosted by members, not by Burty. Meet in public places, tell someone where you're going and leave if you feel unsafe.
  • Be respectful in group chats. Harassment, hate, scams, spam and sharing other people's private details are not allowed. Report a message or block someone with the ⋮ menu.

7. What we can remove

We can hide listings, venues or messages, or suspend accounts, that break these terms or the law, or that put people at risk. Listings publish straight away and are reviewed afterwards.

8. Nina and listing information

Nina, our AI concierge, suggests plans from Burty's listings. Some listings are collected from other public sources. Check times, prices and age rules on the listing or with the organiser before you go; we can't guarantee every detail is right.

9. Liability

Burty provides the platform as it is. As far as the law allows, we're not liable for events, activities or venues run by others, or for indirect losses. Nothing here limits your rights under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018.

10. Changes and contact

We'll tell you about important changes before they apply. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. For questions, use the contact details in our privacy policy.
